New cosmetics: Summer 2014

Hello!

I'd promised myself to refrain from buying cosmetics as much as possible this summer so I could use up all samples I have and some old stuff I've had for ages. I think I did quite well considering what's in the picture above is all I bought in June-July-August-September. I should be given an award for resisting temptation! :D

MOTD: Lana Del Rey 60s Make-up

Yesterday I tried to do something Lana Del Rey inspired because autumn is here and melancholy has taken over me :D The make-up is very 60s and reminiscent of Priscilla Presley, who is a big inspiration for me. I love the 60s - the music, the fashion, the make-up. I love the thick black liner on the upper and lower lid, the big dolly lashes and pale lips.

Today's make-up was definately very dark and unwearable. I did the smokey eyes first and I was really curious how they'd look paired with black lipstick (which, of course, I didn't have so I used black pencil liner + black eyeshadow on top :D)

I've only posted about cosmetics but not a single post about skincare, so today I decided to add some variety to the blog and do a skin care routine post. I'll try to describe how I keep my skin in an acceptable condition and I hope you find it informative. Warning: horrible pictures of me with random products smeared on my face :)

A post that's not about cosmetics! How shocking! 

Everyone else has already done the book tag, but I wanted to do it too. It was really diffiucult for me to choose only ten books that have influenced me the most because I;m a big fan of books and I regularly stay up till the morning to finish a book.  I like many genres - dark fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, gothic literature and so on - so this made it even more difficult for me to decide which ten books to include in my list. 

The Portrait of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde

I really like Oscar Wilde's work in general. I won't go into details, I guess this is a book most of you have read and you know what it's about. How can I not like Dorian - he's so elegant and…vicious. And I just know I'm going to end up like him - hiding a portrait getting uglier and uglier because of my sins :D 

Highlight & Contour IV - Contour Products

I finally found the time to continuue my Highlight and Contour series I started last month. The last three posts are about cream and pressed highlighters  (here, here and here), and this one is going to be about contour products. Since I don't own that many contour products there is only going to be one post. I'm really pale and it took me years of trying different products to find ones that are matte and don't look orange on me. I hope you find this post informative. You can share your favourite products with me in the comments if you wish.

Today's make-up was inspired by…lime and lemons. No, seriously. I wanted to do something tropical because I got tired of always using neutral colours or blue and purple. I did something green about ten days ago but it was really spooky and dark. Today's make-up was much more summery and colorful. The blusher and the lips made the look really fresh.

I wanted to do something really simple and neutral today. Of course, the natural make-up effect on me always gets lost, because I can't resist putting some huge lashes to make it more interesting :D

On the lids I have a beige cream base set with a matte beige eyeshadow. In the crease I've put some matte brown eyeshadows, then I have highligted under the brows and in the inner eye corner with my good old MAC Nylon eyeshadow you're probably tired of reading about. I used liquid liner on the upper lid and then applied upper and lower false eyelashes by Dolly Wink.
